A shoulder bag is a type of bag designed to be carried on a single shoulder, primarily comprising two categories: standard shoulder bags and crossbody bags. They are well-suited for carrying everyday essentials. These bags are crafted from a wide variety of materials-including canvas, cotton-linen blends, nylon, PVC, PU leather, and genuine leather-and span various stylistic categories such as casual, business, and fashion-forward. Furthermore, they are often categorized by gender into men's and women's bags; men's shoulder bags tend to favor business and casual styles, while women's models frequently feature Korean-style street-fashion designs.

Functionally, shoulder bags can be classified into categories such as ticket holders, wallets, travel bags, and briefcases; in terms of form, they include handbags, crossbody bags, and chest packs. Popular styles currently include minimalist chain bags, quilted mini-bags, and bags featuring metal chain straps. Regarding maintenance, users should avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and prevent the bag from being crushed or subjected to heavy pressure. For bags made of smooth cowhide, it is recommended to wipe them down with a specialized cleaning solution followed by the application of a leather conditioner; canvas bags should be protected from excessive friction, while straw-woven bags must be shielded from direct sunlight. When carrying the bag, users may choose between wearing it over the shoulder or carrying it by hand; however, it is advisable to alternate shoulders periodically to prevent muscle strain.

Some handmade shoulder bags that mimic the designs of major luxury brands may run the risk of infringing upon design patents. Legal experts therefore advise young designers to register their trademarks and patents in advance to mitigate such risks. For storage, it is recommended to place the bag inside a breathable cotton dust bag. In terms of daily use, PU leather offers excellent durability and water resistance, while genuine leather bags can be cleaned using an egg-white solution or petroleum jelly.
